A Warrior’s Journey

Leaving behind family and friends, Yakutz, a lad of sixteen, is beckoned to leave his home by a vision that throws into doubt all that he knows. Journeying to find the Truth, tested by numerous trials and escaping more than one trap, Yakutz slowly comes to realize that he is not the only one who has made this quest. Gaining more than knowledge, the boy becomes a man as he learns what it truly means to be a warrior.

Meanwhile, back in his homeland, a storm of war has been unleashed. Hatred has kindled a fire so great in its fury that it threatens to ignite across all of the Known Continent.

About the Author

Mar McKeown is the pen name for an Irish farmer living in rural Pennsylvania. The fifth of eight children, Mar was homeschooled, took a few classes at a community college before attending Thomas More College in Merrimack, New Hampshire and graduating with a bachelor’s degree in the Liberal Arts. Mar started writing stories at seven-years-old and, being a bit of a perfectionist when it came to writing, battled self-doubt in ever getting published for a number of years.

At twenty-eight years of age, Mar has traveled to twenty-two states and spent time in Italy and England through college programs. Collecting numerous story ideas as well as learning about the different types of terrain, cultures and people in order to have a better grasp in describing such places in future stories.

When Mar is not building fantasy lands, the writer can be found working around the farm on numerous projects, tending to the animals or repairing a fence once again. Mar’s hobbies include fencing: foil and broadsword, rollerblading, bicycling, wood-burning artwork, sketching, canoeing, archery, and photography, as well as cooking and baking.
